Presence of Pterourus xanthopleura (Salvin & Godman) in Venezuela: New record for the country (Lepidoptera: Papilionidae)

The presence of Pterourus xanthopleura (Lepidoptera: Papilionidae) in Venezuela is confirmed for the first time. The capture of two specimens in the Surukún river valley in southern Bolívar state is described. A single previous report of Pt. xanthopleura in Venezuela is discussed, noticing that the latter actually corresponds to female P. androgeus. The geographical range of the species is augmented, moving the northern perimeter at least 400 km more to the north.
